To The Old Men Of Power
A serious post, for once, prompted by the current events in Egypt.
What is it that the old men of power don’t understand? The World has changed around them and yet they seem not to have noticed.
This is an age when news travels around this little planet in microseconds. It is tweeted, it is blogged, it is probably old news by the time it reaches a president’s ears and we see raw, live footage on so many 24 hour news channels that we can see where the truth lies for ourselves.
Instant, easily accessible communication between people all over the World has been a reality for a while already, yet these old men don’t seem to comprehend the natural consequences of its existence. Are they even aware it exists at all?
It’s no longer possible for dictators to lie to and suppress their subjects. Wake up, old men, and smell the coffee. Your secrets are secrets no more. Your time is over. Now is when the people can see how warped and twisted the regimes they have endured, propaganda doesn’t work any more when your subjects can see the truth for themselves.
